Tonight I went to a school dance. It actually turned out to be a lot of fun. When I first arrived, two of my students found me & wanted me to have their picture taken with them. Then they dragged me out to the dance floor where we all did the "Cupid Slide" and "The Macarena". Talk about a workout. I was worn out before I knew it. It was great to see my students outside of the classroom & to hang out with the other teachers & have a good time. We also did "The Electric Slide" & "The Cha Cha Slide". I think the last time I did "The Electric Slide" was when I went to an eighth grade dance.
This year I have been a lot more involved in school activities. I guess most of it stems from the fact that this is my second year here & I hope to be at the school for a lot longer. Please be praying that I will have a job next year. From what I hear I will probably be safe & will have tenure if I make it to next year, but we don't know how it will be in our county for the 1st & 2nd year teachers. There are so many budget cuts & I am worried for many that may be out of a job. Plus they may be canceling or reducing so many of the programs we have at our school & throughout the county. Times are tough & the students are feeling the effects. How do we give them the proper education if there is no money to provide it???
Well I guess that is enough of my grumblings. Have a wonderful weekend!!

it is a hilarious mental image to see you and a bunch of 5th graders doing the electric slide & the Macarena. It is also great to hear that your students like you; it is great to know that we have strong christians involved in our public schools. Our prayers have always been with you, and are even more now as we see tough times on the horizons. Keep up the good work.
